My mother taught me to knit three times (at ages 9, 11, and 14) so I could join her washcloth knitting production line. (A family of 6 that doesn't use paper towels or sponges needs a lot of washcloths.) The third time, something clicked and I dove into knitting headfirst, using vintage yarn from my grandmother's stash and designing my own patterns right away. By the time I was 17, I was selling the occasional bolero sweater and deep into the world of knit blogs.

Then, as a freshman in college, I walked into an LYS and got a job. Although it was only a seasonal holiday position, I found that I loved the people, the inventory, and the smell of a yarn store. I was excited to help people, see what was up and coming in the fiber arts world, and learn new skills. The next year, I was lucky enough to land a summer job an LYS near my home.

When I moved to LA in 2010, it was to a horrific job market, and I turned to an LYS once again. This time, I stayed for several years and made lifelong friends, and cut my teeth on pricing, marketing, strategy, and the nitty-gritty of making a small business work. While I moved on to work in tech, I always had a place in my heart for the local yarn store.

Here I am, 10 years later, and I realized my neighborhood has no LYS or even big box craft store! So hoping to serve the crafters around me (and my own convenience), I started delishtaknit. After so many years teaching and selling, I know which products will last, which are the secret weapons of many professionals, and what you really reach for every time you need a tool. My hope is that by providing quality needles and notions to my neighborhoods in person and online, I can make everyone's life a little easier.
